We're looking for an Infrastructure Oracle DBA to join a highly respected organisation to work as part of a team to deliver Oracle DB operational support as well as capability for a range of projects. The successful candidate will lead complex solution delivery for IT projects, working with in-house development teams and/or third parties to design, develop and implement infrastructure solutions. They lead their own group of technologies and support architects in delivering the strategic roadmap for their technology area.

Key Technologies

Experience of the following technologies with the aptitude to take on the development and support of new technologies and vendors: -

  • Experience of Oracle RAC, Data Guard and RMAN
  • Working knowledge of 11g and 12c
  • Experience of OEM12c Grid Control
  • Experience of table partitioning and Index management
  • Experience in Unix shell scripting and PL/SQL coding
  • Ability to work in a mixed OS environment, Linux, Windows, AIX
  • Documentation skills for processes and procedures ( creating KBs, runbooks, topology etc )

The ideal candidate should also have an understanding, and ideally experience of: -

  • Cloud infrastructures and the concept of Software Defined Data Centre.

As the ideal candidate you will possess experience of 24/7 operations in a similar sized organisation. You will have specialist knowledge of the following technologies with the aptitude to take on the development and support of new technologies and vendors: -

  • Experience of any other database technologies such as MS SQL IBM DB2 or MongoDB
  • Experience of real-time data integration and replication technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • 3rd line Oracle support including Oracle RAC in production and development
  • BAU maintenance
  • Application project support
  • Database capacity planning
  • Database design and implementation
  • Database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Monitor database Servers to ensure overall resilience and integrity
  • Implement and maintain database security
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of software
  • Some tasks will require a degree of weekend and evening work to support the infrastructure
