Security Consultant - Permanent - London - Software Development, SDLC, Agile, DevOps

A digital technology company responsible for building next generation applications for a range of financial institutions require a Security Consultant to join them on a permanent basis.

The overall responsibility of the Security Consultant will be to demonstrate a deep range of technical security knowledge applicable to cloud architecture, applications and infrastructure, including authentication and encryption. You should also understand the fundamentals of vulnerability management, along with a desire to lead in this space, based on key principles, practices, tools and technologies.

Accountabilities of the Security Consultant include;

  • Shaping Security strategy including assessing emerging security technologies and also the security features proposed or implemented in my client's products and cloud platforms (including application and infrastructure components).
  • Influencing design, build and run activities so that my client's products and procedures satisfy internal standards, along with supporting contractual, legal and regulatory compliance, including PCI DSS and data protection laws.
  • Assessing security risks and providing security recommendations to technical teams that are managing services running in development, test and operational environments.
  • Governing a threat and vulnerability framework implemented across the enterprise, including communicating threats, vulnerabilities and mitigation plans to business and technology stakeholders, and governing remediation activities.
  • Collaborating with technical specialists in order to embed security best practice into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps processes.

Previous skills/experience required of the Security Consultant include;

  • Good understanding/familiarity with Agile & DevOps software development environments
  • Deep PCI DSS expertise is essential for the role and experience of promoting PCI DSS compliance within Dev and Ops environments
  • A good understanding of Vulnerability Management governance within a Financial Services environment
  • Enforce security governance and influence cross-functional teams
  • Provide technical leadership and make effective technical decisions
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to articulate business challenges to technical and non-technical audiences in terms of security impact
