Developer in Test - Cardiff - Permanent - Java, Ruby, Automation

A Developer in Test is required to join my client, a software development company responsible for developing a broad range of applications for banks and financial services organisations, on a permanent basis at their offices in Cardiff.

The overall responsibility of the DIT will be to provide subject matter expertise and input for Quality Engineering and broader Engineering function on test framework and testing strategies as well as developing innovative solutions within a heavily automated environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Developer in Test:

  • Provide leadership of QE DIT function and take ownership of identifying objectives and targets.
  • Undertake enhancements to the automation test framework, spanning multi-channel test drivers and accelerators for functional and non-functional testing requirements.
  • Ongoing code review of test automation code and scripts.
  • Develop and enhance software components that support test related activities, including mocks and harnesses.
  • Support and improve tools for continuous integration, continuous testing and release management.

Key Skills Required of the Developer in Test:

  • Experience leading a team of Engineers, as well as coaching and mentoring of team members.
  • Extensive experience of developing automation tests with development experience in Java/Ruby.
  • Significant involvement in the design and implementation of test automation frameworks
  • Development of simulators, mocks and subs
  • Technical testing of multi-tiered enterprise applications
  • Build and CI tools e.g. Ant, Maven, CruiseControl and Jenkins.
